I do, especially in the spring. I even have some dried dandelion roots somewhere, not that I could tell you exactly where they are. Probably in the hoop house somewhere. I like to get out in the spring and pick small dandelion leaves to use in salad. I have never cooked them. They are considered a weed here too but when I put in new garden beds last year, I let them grow pretty big so the roots would get super long and pull up nutrients from the soil. Eventually I dug them up. I think it helped my beds though.

My sister's turtles love eating dandelion greens. They wouldn't forgive me if I tried to steal their favorite snack;) But I know that it's possible to make dandelion coffee and wine.

Tried the greens, too bitter for me, tried blanching them with an upturned flower pot, I assume that took the bitterness out as the slugs ate the lot :D

Is that Turtles or Tortoise @claudine :)?

They're tortoises:p Lol, English is tricky! I must tell my sister that she doesn't have any turtles;) I've googled both these words and now I know that turtles live in water, while tortoises live on land and eat plants:D They love dandelions.

Lol! I'm wondering if our tortoises would like them too:p I miss the time when growing poppies wasn't illegal. Most policemen here can't tell the difference between a regular poppy and an opium poppy, so it's better not to take any risk and get rid of all varieties:(

They probably would, Crawley loved them :)

It's illegal here to, but the coppers don't take any notice of them, got a true opium poppy growing next to my compost bin.

It's a bit battered after the hurricane.

I just don't, I can't really see myself eating dandelions! When I used to be a little girl I used to cut them for fun. I can't imagine myself eating them, even tho I have heard they're so beneficial for our health.

I have never entertained the thought of eating dandelion greens as a matter of fact didn't even know it was edible until now but i've drank the dandelion coffee and the taste is amazing and it is very beneficial to ones health.

I have not actually ever tried Dandelion plants but I do hear that they are really good and are really good for you. I have been thinking about trying some lately but do not know any good sources to get them from.

I like dandelion root tea, although I purchase the tea rather than making my own. My Italian in-laws love dandelion and other bitter greens. I don't care for them, which is unfortunate, because dandelion is considered to be a great spring tonic and wonderful for the liver. I should give them a try again. Perhaps mixing them with spicy arugula would help. Just make sure that the dandelions are not in an area which has been treated with chemicals, such as weed or vegetation killer in the recent past.

I hvae been thinking of getting a dandelion root supplement lately, I had it helps to heal the liver a bit and detox and God knows my liver needs detox right now D: But I'm still a bit iffy, maybe I should just buy the dry roots and boil them?
