Interesting how things turn out. I've been growing roses for over sixty years and WOW how prices have changed. OK, the covid pandemic caused so many problems in life. In the Rose world, growers upped their prices, presumeably to maintane a healthy income despite 'shut downs' etc. Now as the 'bare root' season comes to an end, growers are giving discounts upto 50% off so as to clear their stocks. Just this evening. I received an email from David Austin roses offering great discounts. DA needs to as some prices are £25-£35 plus each.

Sorry, but gertrude is NOT completely disease resistant.
It grows well with me, only aphids attack a lot, but I spray and there is no problem.

At our last place we had a Graham Thomas in the middle of the lawn. It likes being separate and getting the air through it as a disease preventative, but a beautiful rose. I don't know who he was, but I guess someone important in the garden world as we also had a really good honeysuckle named after him growing down the fence on the East side of the house.
There is a good rose specialist, 'Just Roses' near us in Northiam.

Just a mention. Gertrude Jekyll is susceptible to Black Spot. There is to date, no known cure for the latter. Spraying in advance can sometimes help to prevent it, but once it appears, there is no cure. Remove and burn the affected leaves.

I would add be extra tidy around the bottom of the plant. I find I can miss leaves, and they fall off, taking the spores with them.
