Buttercups

One of the things I like about buttercup is the flowers last about a week in a vase after you cut them! They make pretty flower arrangements!

We have volunteer buttercups in our garden, the lawn, everywhere! I see buttercups all over WA state too! My opinion is yes it's a wild flower!

This year I have seen larger plantings of Buttercups. One front yard had two large plantings of Buttercups in front of the house. One Buttercup area was next to a yellow rose bush.

To me a buttercup is a buttercup, but when my brother compiled a flora for the area around Newton Blossomville where he lived I think he identified five different ones growing, meadow, creeping, bulbous, water, and one other. I was surprised, but he told me there are actually hundreds of species. Some of these botanists are a touch pedantic, he also told me of someone who identified five different species of brambles by counting stamens, that must make for a fun afternoon
