As this thread was started about the only yellow ray-flowered species of Coneflower (Echinacea paradoxa).
It seems fitting to discuss some recent yellow ray-flowered hybrid cultivars of Coneflower (Echinacea hybrids).
It is quite possible that these modern hybrids have genes from Echinacea paradoxa somewhere in their ancestry.
Ball Seeds has bred a number of yellow-ray flowered hybrids.
Echinacea x hybrida 'Balsomselo' has pale butter yellow ray flowers and an orange cone of disk flowers.
Echinacea x hybrida 'Balsomemyim' has bright school-bus yellow ray flowers and an orange cone of disk flowers.
Echinacea x hybrida 'Balsomsolst' (pictured below) has some similar coloration to both of the previous two cultivars. The base of each bright yellow ray corolla fades to a lighter shade of buttercream yellow.
Several of these yellow Coneflower hybrids are marketed as part of Proven Winners' Sombrero (trade name) line.
