I planted this about 3 years ago and it’s never been what you would call spectacular, I’ve been wracking my brains to remember what it’s called , can anyone enlighten me?

Flowers look like wigelia but not the trunk.

My first thought was some kind of fruit tree, but when I zoomed in on the flowers they looked tube like, but it was difficult to tell, like you say a close up of the flowers would be a great help.

Is it a daphne of some sort? Tubular flower, four petals.

I too think it is a Daphne, but which one? Is it highly scented? Evergreen or deciduous?

The missus looked and said 'Viburnum bodnantense dawn' . She's good at this. The leaf looks right too.

Strangely enough, I just walked up our lane and looked at a huge Viburnum Bodnantense Dawn and came to the same conclusion. Not been able to get back in since then to post. Well done Mrs. Buckle.

It does look as though it isn't as vigorous as it might be. They are not great feeders, but they do like it moist, do you water in Summer when it's putting on growth, @Brickman0430 0 ?

Finally finding the time to get back to everyone. Many thanks, viburnum bodnantense definitely rings a bell. There was a hydrangea planted in front of it last year, but I had to move it as it was constantly drying out, so I’m guessing the viburnum is not getting enough moisture also, probably due to the humongous conifers in next doors garden sucking all the moisture out of the ground, if I had my way I’d make the damn things illegal in suburban gardens, but that’s another story. So, do I move my lovely viburnum? Keep watering? How hard/easy is it to propagate?

I would keep watering a little while to help it along. They’re not the easiest to propagate. You will need rooting hormone to get it to root.
