Hi, I'm new to gardening forums so please be easy with me! I have inherited a large Wisteria in the garden of my new house in Manchester. Not sure due to conflicting reports as to when it needs pruning. The old girl has probably been around for a long time by the size of her, I say. All help appreciated.

Hi and welcome

We live in south Mancheter and have a few wisterias. Some on pergolas, another trained along a side fence, one along our house side wall and one free standing on a support in a flower bed.

A photo would help us give you advice.

At the moment wisterias are putting on a lot of growth, some of it unwanted. It's also the second flowering season. Nothing like that of May, just a few blooms here and there.
The pruning time is "all summer," but the main one is in January. I've done ours for the last ten years, between Christmas and New Year. There's global warming for you.
