I just asked my technically ept husband, and he said you are exactly right--the camera has an infra-red setting.
My husband saw a fox while he was shredding the pasture, and we got a photo of one in the back yard. I don't know if we have one fox or more than one, but we are tickled to death to have any fox! Between the fox(es) and the owl, I don't think we'll have a mouse problem.

Your cam may catch them catching a mouse sometime!! Wait for that! :)
I guessed it could be infra red because I have seen videos taken by Nat Geo - night shots where the animals are shown in white with eyes in a glitter. Only such light with different frequency could penetrate the darkness. Your cam has a wonderful facility then.... it also shows there a box 'Animal bedding'!
