Congratulations Bootsy. Beautiful photo of a beautiful garden. As an ex art teacher I always feel that when you look at a piece of art work there must be more to it than just meets the eye, so that each time you look the more you see. and this image certainly does just that, beautifully. (y)I keep looking and re-looking and seeing more and more. Love the thatch roof as well. I did see a few when we went to England quite a few years ago and loved them.

Thank you, all. (y)

The photo is part of the wonderful garden of Richard Ayres MBE. He received his MBE for services to gardening. He is well known for having designed and made the famous winter garden at Anglesey Abbey whilst being the head gardener there (now retired).

My photo is of his private garden and the cottage he lives in. He lives in a village near to Anglesey Abbey. The garden is about twice the width of that pictured, with the other half being different but just as splendid. I think that the vibrant red plant in the foreground (crocosmia Lucifer) gives a striking effect to the picture.

Anglesey Abbey (Cambridgeshire) was gifted to The National Trust by Lord Fairhaven. The house is open to the public and the 114 acre garden is laid out with a variety of gardens that look good at different times of year. It also has a working water driven flour mill.

The winter garden has some lovely plantings and colours in the winter and even bare trees can look striking.

Thanks, grouie (y)

I was in India in January but nowhere near you. We went to Delhi, Darjeeling, Gangtok, and then through Bhutan to Calcutta (I'm old fashioned with place names ;)).

We were trailblazing for Prince William and Kate :ROFLMAO:

That's why I said I'm old fashioned with place names ;) :D

We still call every place and country by their old name. :) Calcutta is what is printed on my wife's birth certificate and passport (y)

How did it happen that your wife's birth certificate and passs port has this city's name?
Now about what you have uploaded here why should God be so unfair that you get all the flowers in the world and others get hardly any:p:oops:o_O:cry:
