For the second year in a row, I lost all my onions (planted in 2 different spots) to the allium leaf miner/fly. I guess my plan of action is to lay off alliums for a year as I may have bred them from last year as I didn't pull my onions last year until later due to family issues, so some most likely pupated in my soil. But I hear they are a growing problem in the USA. I used to have such good onion harvests before last year.
As far as I can tell, they didn't touch my garlic, which was planted next to some of the onions, but I will find out for sure when I harvest them this month. Last year the garlic was not attacked by this fly and I had some onions right next to the garlic as this year.
