There are a few papaver somniferum poppies growing on the edge of the garlic bed. These are from seed and have survived the Winter. The flowers vary in color and there are many types. The vegetation is always a leaf sort of lettuce type so are easily identified. Bulk barn poppy seeds are always papaver somniferum and are viable but limited in variety. Bees love the flowers. These are the opium poppy but many are required to get any meaningful effect.
