Hi I have a weeping birch that just doesn't seem to be doing anything. Have had it for about 3 years and it hasn't changed in that time. Hasn't got any thicker - no new main branches. Probably in shade mid afternoon. I live in Southwestern Australia. Would love any advice on how to give this little fella a better life:)

Nurturing Nature, Growing Together
Hi Oliver, knowing how long you've been at gardening, can I pick your brain if you've seen this weed. I'm sure someone has tossed seeds over the fence (I have interesting neighbours) Ailanthus altissima AKA Tree of Heaven
Can you give any thoughts? I've never seen such a huge and prolific weed...

Not one I can answer from personal experience. Google tells me pull up the seedlings before they develop a tap root, or, if they are already grown, cut them down, then treat the stump with weedkiller to stop it coming back or spreading. Sounds tedious , but effective.
Nice neighbours, is it personal, or are they that way to anyone? Malicious or just a twisted sense of humour?
