This is actually called red pepper here, the small pepper that gets red when ripe and very hot. It is very popular in the Bicol region as their favorite spice. What we have is actually not wild but we did not plant those pepper that are growing in our backyard. My husband said that those pepper plants are wild in the sense that they were planted by birds. Now one of the pepper plants is having fruits and in a few days may turn red. And when it does, I would post the picture here.

I planted Red Hot chilis thinking they were your standard chili pepper. Apparently they are quite hot.

What people treasure here are red hot chili which is really hot. Some people here, depending on their custom, cook a dish with red hot chili as the main ingredient. You would need a fire engine for that dish. We had cleared the garden of all weeds and other things that cramped our small backyard garden. Now we are hoping that aphids will not attack our red pepper otherwise it will have a short life.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures, Corzhens:)
My boyfriend used to grow a small pepper plant some time ago. It looked pretty, I liked it very much.

I don't think I have seen a wild hot pepper before, but looking forward to see your picture! I like mild spices as hot ones will just burn my taste.

I was actually waiting for the wild red pepper to ripen so it would turn red in color. The variety that grew in our backyard is the long red pepper. This morning when I checked the plants, it is obvious that some fruits are missing because the fruit stem is still there. Although there are some small fruits that may ripen in a few days, it makes me wonder what’s happening so I asked. Yes, our housemaid confessed that she was picking the green pepper that she mix in her food. So I told her, okay, I will just take your picture and post it in the forum. Hahahaaa.
