Hi. I live in northern California (9b). I put a pumpkin in my backyard and it was doing really great. It has lots of fruit on it. Now all of a sudden huge sections of the plant are dying. I don't know why.
There are voles in the bed, but I have the pumpkin itself in a gopher cage. I also have bordered plant bugs and crickets. I will post some pictures.
First one section of the vine died, now a second section, and I have a feeling the whole plants going to go. I looked inside one of the vines to see if there was a sign of a pest that could be eating it from the inside, but it looked normal. Does anyone know what could be causing this? also, what can I do if this whole plant dies and I have five or six half ripened pumpkins on it? Will they ripen if I take them off?
