Why has my apple tree decided to stop growing

In the first picture it appears that the tree is leggy, meaning small skinny limbs and not much foliage. The legginess is caused by the tree not getting enough direct sunlight. An apple needs at the very minimum 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Another reason is a lack of nutrition. What do you fertilize it with and how often?

Hi, thanks for the response. In terms of fertilizing it, is there a specific fertilizer you'd recommend & how frequently should I use it? (I've not been fertilizing a lot)

I am not familiar with what is available in the UK but there are a lot of members on this forum who are. I am sure one of them will respond.
