We have a lovely big azalea, but it's getting too close to the house. Is now an okay time to do some pruning? It finished blooming about a month ago.
I'm in US Zone 6!

Right after they finish blooming is generally the best time to prune them.

That's a very nice one you have there.

I look at pruning sort of like surgery...i.e. if its cosmetic/elective then wait until the timing is perfect but if it is necessary such as getting too close to the house, then do the prune.

Great advice all around. Thank you. She (the azalea) has had a problem with lacewings in the past. She looks better this year, but should I just keep applying neem oil?
