when to feed young plants

is it too early to feed my young plants, not in flower yet... i don't normally use feed so am no expert it does say to feed in spring...

If you mean seedlings jacqui, and they are in compost, they will have enough feed in the mix for the time being. If you add any feed at all as they get bigger, osmocote slow release is excellent.... much better than miracle grow

they are petunia and calibrachoe in compost indoors at the minute protected from frost ..about 4 inch high i purchased them thinking i could plant out .. but i cannot yet.. but am eager for them to do well..

Well I reckon you have the makings of an excellent gardener !! Don`t forget there isn`t one gardener anywhere, of any age, or any amount of horticultural education, who knows absolutely everything about the subject. Very often it`s making mistakes that teach you the most - so always expect a drawback or more.
For example, I have been growing seedlings for years (not saying how many) and a whole bunch of mine have damped off because they got too wet.....made me say blow and bother

haha thanks , gardening is my therapy its been a rough year and a long winter.. and i am rushing to get going i know i should slow it down a bit, we can't rush nature...
