When to cut back Clematis Tangutica

Hi I,m new to the forum and was hoping someone could tell me if or when I need to cut back my beautiful Clematis tangutica which has yellow lantern flowers on. I grew it from seed so don,t know much about taking care of it. Thank you

We wait till spring then trim away all of the dead vine from last season while it is still short.

As above, Tangutica should be cut back to about 6 -8 inches from the ground to a pair of strong buds in Spring.
