I have a flowering shrub that is beginning to droop over. So I have inserted a bamboo stake but I'm wondering if I have tied it up the right way. It is sticking straight up and the plant is beginning to grow upward. What is a good direction to stake this bush?

Not knowing what kind of shrub it is, is it possible that the drooping over is a normal growth habit? As far as I know staking is used mainly to keep plants off of the ground or from being blown over in the wind when newly planted

I've been trying to find out the name of it botanically so as to find the English or French word. But I have been unsuccessful. My friend who is Malagasy (from the island of Madagascar) has given it to me (where I have it in our home in Madagascar) and we have decided to stake it. Since staking it, the 3 colors have bloomed beautifully! After 2 years its the first time it has looked this good. I will take a photo and post it later. Thanks for your help!
