Hello, I just joined! I'm looking for help with this yucca plant. This was a beautiful tree once, but it almost died because the cat was peeing in it. I repotted it last year in an attempt to keep it alive and it's doing pretty well considering! I moved it outside when the weather started getting warm, a couple of months ago.

There are things growing from the leaf base that aren't leaves and am not sure if they're roots. It also looks like another leaf is growing out from below that. I'm wondering if I need to report so the soil comes up to the leaf base. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums @LeafLover996 :) The first thing to do is keep it away from that cat :cat::rolleyes:
Those are nice new roots growing there, and when they get a bit bigger, I would cut all of that bit off and plant it in a nice new pot. I would leave the stub of the stem where it is and see if it produces any more growth just for interest.

I agree. If you look a little further down, you can see a new stem bud popping out already. When you cut off the top you could stick it in the same pot and have a bushier plant.

I couldn't see the new bud - must have had my glasses on upside down again

Thanks. Where can I cut it?

Hi, I'm hoping this post gets bumped by my update. I ended up letting the roots extend into the soil and then repotted it..... I had to break it out of the pot because it was so rooted. It spent the winter inside and now it's on our patio for the summer. I'm wondering if it's still a good idea to cut it at the stem and repot as suggested by Tetters.
