You may find this article, that I have just found, interesting

http://awaytogarden.com/asparagus-an-all-male-cast/

Huh. So maybe what I bought is one of the less-productive hybrid strains? First time I've ever grown asparagus so I'm not sure what optimum production should be. The Jersey Giant started producing spears first...have been getting enough for one or two hefty servings about every three days, from six plants. The six Mary Washingtons are just starting to produce spears...I'm seeing lots of little tips poking up!

I'll pay better attention later this summer. I thought all the ferns had berries but l could be wrong about that.

Things have started to bloom in the garden :) I should have more red peony flowers in the morning, the pink and white Peony tree should bloom by Sun.

A rainbow started to form the other day but it only rained for three minutes. That's the only rain we've had for almost a month! Today it's 75 degrees and getting too hot to be working in the sun.

Hey! I love love love my garden but I'm fairly new on here - so hello everyone! I'm Alexa nice to meet you all :) I spotted Mr Plant Geek on This Morning yesterday - what a guy! So I started following him on Twitter right after and I stumbled across this him tweeting about this (what a hashtag!) - http://www.sgs-engineering.com/help-advice/britains-best-bush/ - definitely considering entering some of my topiary into it haha! Did anyone else spot him on there, and has anyone else done it? Just want to know what my competition will be like?
