The pics show basically what happened to my cherry tree overnight. The aphids were horrible this year but I've never seen this effect before. Neem oil doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there another non chemical remedy out there? This is a young tree. Two young apple trees have also been hit.

Do you have deer around? That photo 20230826 looks like possible deer damage to me.
Are they able to strip the leaves and leave the central vein? I never even considered deer. I don't recall seeing any tracks but I will double check. The way some of the leaves have been getting thin holes in them I just assumed bugs. One healthy cherry tree had the same leaf stripping on one branch deeper in the branches too.

Yes. The "thin holes" you described are caused by something else, however. I couldn't see those in a picture.
