Hi all! I am new to the gardening scene, but I was wondering what sort of veggies would be able to grow in this garden. My dad wants to grow corn and potatoes, but I'm not sure if this garden would make that ideal or even possible. Please let me know what you guys think!

Also, the current plants growing in it are Eastern redbud, Largeflower Mexican clover, and Garden lettuce

What are the approximate dimensions? At first glance, it isn't large enough for corn which requires multiple plants for pollination.

Potatoes are good if you want to start a new bit of ground, you can dig in raw compost and pile on stuff like grass cuttings and manure and they don't mind if it is green and raw, they are vigorous enough to beat most weeds, and you dig to put them in and dig again to get them out which leaves the ground in good condition for the next crop, and they taste great compared to shop ones. On the other hand shop ones are cheap so you get a better return from something like tomatoes, and most things you grow yourself taste better.

Thank you very much for the information! This is very helpful :) Do you think one of the boxes, if the cage part was removed, would support a potato?

That would be a recipe for disaster here. Only well aged, composted manure can be used on potatoes here...otherwise scab is rampant as well as other diseases.

Potatoes don't need support so they should be fine there.

Plant corn in squares for a good pollination, not a long single row. It is wind pollinated.

Yes so the left box is 41" long and wide and 10.5" deep. The right box is 41" wide, 39" long, and 10.5" deep. Does this help?

Yes, you have enough surface room for corn planted in squares, but 10.5 inches depth is marginal as corn commonly grows 3 ft in depth and more. You might try some as an experiment, but my guess is it won't work well.

Potatoes, yes definitely and hill them up as you go.
