I'm trying both Sugar Baby and Crimson Sweet this year.

However, I had bad luck with sugar baby last year, the seedlings were very weak and ended up not doing well on the move outside and finally died. Only plants I lost.

And now the sugar baby's this year are acting the same. The leaves are browning, and they look weak compared to my other plants. I'm growing pumpkin and cucumber right next to them that are doing fantastic. I'm wondering if I just got a bad batch of genetics or something.

The Crimson Sweet would get my vote between the two you mentioned...never had a lot of success with the Sugar Baby myself.

However, over the years, I've grown to really appreciate and like the Triple Crown a hybrid, seedless (should be called less seeds) variety with outstanding taste.

Too early here to even think about melons...yet. I always direct seed mine, as they do not generally transplant well, and wait until we get really warm soil before seeding them.

Can I ask where you get seeds? I checked Amazon and the only ones I saw were quite expensive.

The seedless do tend to be more expensive. I usually get mine from Parks
