The upright growth and opposite leaves suggests Spekboom (Portulacaria afra), also known as Porkbush or Elephant-food.
It is a succulent shrub, native to southern Africa, but widely grown as an ornamental. It was formerly included in the Purslane Family (Portulacaceae, but is now included in Didiereaceae, a small family endemic to Madagascar and Africa.
