A town close to me has a steam fair every year. I'll make a point of going to it and taking pics. Will post here when the day comes, just for fun.
In the meantime, if your son likes cars, here's a pic of our toy...

I call the car stinky because the exhaust, well, you get it. Yes, that is a stuffed skunk (stinker) posing in the engine compartment. Tell your son this is a 1970 'cuda, 440-6, all original car - i.e. numbers matching.

It looks like a very man fair. I'm sure very interesting but where are the flowers? I'm joking of course. I have a husband and 3 sons! My husband would have loved the fair and I really like the old cars.
Looks like great day out for you and your son.
For the steam train enthusiasts amongst us we boast the world renowned Puffing Billy here in Emerald, Victoria (there is an Emerald in Queensland). Enthusiasts come from all around the world apparently and it only closes on Christmas Day and fire ban days. You can see it from our driveway and almost daily are stopped at the crossings here in town as it goes on its merry way. Waving is mandatory and smiling just comes naturally!

Well, I went this morning..the pieces of equipment were all in operation. It was fascinating watching them saw logs and other manufacturing operations as well. Air was pretty smoky - pollution in those days must have been pretty high.

Yep, still is in parts of Wales where most houses have coal fires, no blackspot on the roses though, smoke keeps it at bay.
