S many of you know, we recently moved to a new house across town. Before moving I did out several banana corms to relocate. I stopped them in 27 gallon totes for the move and labeled each one. Once here I replanted them but dud not have space for one, so I just popped it down in a relatively bad location not expecting it to do much.
Now this last month I've been watching them grow wandering why my favorite one, a variegated Florida, has yet to show any variegation. Today I noticed since flashed of red on it. Immediately fearing the worst I go look at the banana in a bad spot... Sure enough, a tiny struggling variegated banana! Apparently I miss labeled the corms and confused the dwarf Cavendish with the Florida!
Whole the Cavendish is likely to give more fruit, the Florida I'd my favorite for it's striking coloration. At the point in afraid to dig them up since they are just getting over the transplant shock and cold and starting to come up. The Florida pup is only a few inches tall right now.
Hate it when I do stupid things
