Hi all,

I have been in my house for 2 years and I've got some sort of plant/tree growing all over in my lawn. I recently tried to dig one out and there seems to be a network of roots under the lawn, I started pulling it up and it went to another sprout poking up through my lawn. There are many sprouts and fear they're all interlinked. Does anyone know what they could be? Pictures attached, and also, the best way to get rid of them without digging up my lawn and ruining the grass?

Thank you :)

Welcome Mac78. :)

They are suckers growing from the roots of a nearby tree or shrub, either in your garden or a neighbours. The roots would need to be traced back to the tree and cut off there. That in most cases isn't possible, so you can either mow them off until they weaken and hopefully die off, or poison them with a systemic killer. Unfortunately that will either damage or kill the shrub/tree they are attached too. If it's in your garden that's a decision made easily, but if it's in a neighbours garden you would be taking a risk and it would be best to speak with them about it.
