Tool to trim creeping fig on wall?

I have creeping fig growing on a brick retaining wall. The wall is about 5' tall. I need to trim the fig so it doesn't climb over the wall and into the garden soil at the top. I use a small pair of clippers, and trim each strand of fig separately. Is there a tool (preferably a power tool) that would be better for this? E.g., some sort of small string trimmer?
