I don't seem to have success with cuttings. I had 3 cuttings of bigleaf hydrangeas and 2 died already. The last one does not very well. It could be any these reasons, over water, expose to sun too early (I brought it out to the sun (2-3 hrs a day) after 2 weeks in shade).

I need to propagate bigleaf hydrangeas and Dragon Wing Begonia. Do you have any tips to enhance the cuttings' survival rate? Thanks

You should leave these cutting in the shade at all times, especially while the weather is so hot. Patience is the answer to your question.
With hydrangeas it`s a good idea to cut leaves by half ...

like this, and they will root easily with a node or internodally.
Wait until the roots have time to establish, and then carefully transplant to a small pot and fresh compost. When the baby plant has made enough root to completely fill the pot it will be ready to plant out..... during all this procedure keep the plant damp at all times, and mist occasionally. Hydrangeas will not put up with too much sun at any stage and prefer to stay in dappled shade.
Sticking a baby cutting in the sun will mean sure death!!

Thanks. Yeah I thought the cuttings need some sun to grow faster. From now on, I'll leave all cuttings for all kind of plants in the shade until they are well established then I'll move them out to the sun, not much sun though, maybe 1-2 hours a day

The pic that you attached, does that apply to cuttings of any kind of plants in general and not just hydrangeas?

Hydrangeas in particular - maybe one or two other plants to reduce transpiration.
