I began my native garden in 2014. Originally, it was 64 square feet. Last year, I decided to add on, and made it 250 sq. ft. The size was much better and It would allow me to add more of the native plants I wanted to add.

Well, as it turns out, it still wasn't enough for me. I made the decision yesterday to add on once more, and I'm going big! The new section will be bigger than what I already have, and the total native garden size will now be about 600 sq. ft.! I began removing grass yesterday, but I've got a long way to go. Can't wait to complete it!

Below is a blueprint I made while planning it. Each section is outlined to show when it was added. As you can see, the garden also surrounds a fire pit. I've always enjoyed camping, and surrounding my fire pit with native plants will make it feel a little like a campsite. :)

Sounds great, I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on! Out of curiosity, what does the brown strip on the diagram represent?

Finished removing about half of the grass today! I was out there all day. Might get a little more done tomorrow if I have time. I already planted a few plants!

The brown strips are pathways. The lower one was made as a way to get to the fire pit without walking all the way around, as well as a way to separate the native garden from the vegetable garden. The one in the new section will be added so I have access to the firewood I keep under a tree. :)
