My plants don't need long in my mix of soil and they are Root Bound.

I really don't know if this is a problem but seems no matter size of pot after short time it is a mass of roots.

Basically all my plants yesterday I picked up a pot of Spearmint and roots were coming out the bottom.

Just checked my Lemon and Orange Trees and they need Repotting.

We're in Southern Missouri Zone 6b.

Seems like I pot then when I get done got to Repot again. The Soil is real loose and really not too wet.

What im doing is Repotting when I have no choice.

If you reuse depleted soil you will need to add fertilizer If you want your plants to have good nutrition. To me, it's false economy. I add depleted soil to my compost trenches along with my kitchen scraps and other compostable material.

Always add Fertilizer and some Compost.

Was buying many dollars worth of soil before I started mixing my own.

I have stuff for about 2 more full mixes. I take used soil mix 4 parts to 1 Compost and fertilizer.

Sounds like your soil is too loose that could use more organic matter to hold moisture better and your plants are sending more roots searching for more water. As far as the Spearmint that doesn't surprise at all as all mints spread like crazy.
If you can get access to leaf mold that would be the best thing you could add for moisture retention. While not high in nutrients it has a good mineral content and is an excellent soil amendment.

1 part Peat Moss, 1 part garden soil, 1 part Perlite and 2 parts Compost.

I use Rainbow Pro Mix Grow, Lime and Wood Ash.

I tried Vermiculite instead of Perlite and it held too much water.
