Pic from a Sun Burnt Country. It will come back of course. I don't water the grass, I save it for plants that need it and so far so good.

If there is a fire near you, please hose down all your house and land. It might even be a good idea to keep a water tank. Very terrifying to see fire in Australia. Make sure you don't have any Eucalyptus trees as they burn very fast. Your garden still looks verdant!

Lawns are a waste of resources and money/time; that's why I just mulch over them, rather see a landscape that looks more like a forest floor than an artificial environment.

BTW, this reminds me of a video I saw yesterday and captures my sentiments perfectly. Also take note of the very apt title:
Lawns Aren't Green
