My strawberry plant has a strange stem growing with what looks like bugs coming from it. Anyone know what it could be?

That is a separate plant growing with your strawberries. It is a type of cudweed, perhaps Purple Cudweed (Gamochaeta purpurea), formerly known as Gnaphalium purpureum. It is generally considered a weed. The objects that look like "bugs" are actually flower heads.
