last night I was listening to this woman on the radio names Magda Havas, she was talking about experiments that they did where they hooked plants up to lie detector machines and were able to tell they had reactions to stimuli (which we know) She said that they were able to also detect that the plants made sounds and a the company that made the lie detector software made her a specific type of electrode where they could record the plant sounds to midi. they have an actual youtube of this done to house plants. It is actually very interesting to listen to. the man names Robert Connoley was getting the plants to respond to a quartz singing bowl.

Here is the link for the youtube video

That's really interesting. My grandmother always told me that plants grew better if you sang to them everyday. As a little girl, I loved singing to the plants like it was magical plant food. When I got older I figured the plants thrived because of the release of carbon dioxide during singing. Maybe they just like music too. I need to start singing to plants again!

My mother says the same thing, Peachdejour.
If plants have some kind of consciousness, I prefer not to know about it. I don't want to feel guilty for pruning and eating them:( Being a vegetarian is complicated enough.

I don't think that plants have a consciousness like we have Claudine, I do think that they have a sensitivity, not as in you can't tease them sort of way. :cautious: I think they operate almost like radar, they can sense the sun moving, they can sense wind and things like that. According to this woman Magda Havas plants appear to be very sensitive to electronic smog, that's the waves that come out of electrical appliances and the like. I was curious first of all what made them think to use a lie detector machine and second of all if they tried the obvious, did they come at the plant with a pair of shears? I saw this thing years ago called kirilian photography where they did the film after the plant was cut and a ghost image remained. Was pretty fascinating stuff, looked real pretty.
