I keep a lot of my books in my shed and have a large terracotta flower pot with a jar of paraffin with a wick through a tube in the lid. There is a length ot 3/4" copper pipe goes through a hole in the roof one end and over the hole in the upside down flower pot on the floor the other. The pot and the first eighteen inches of pipe gat noticeably warm. It's not toasty, but it's enough to stop the books getting damp. Cold days I warm my hands on it while I am having a break.
Here I am with the books,

This may be overkill for a small shed but is the smallest I could find with a thermostat. I have one and it works great. Doesn't use much gas just to maintain a no-freezing environment.
