Oh boy! I like this one. On top of the fridge? I put soft cheeses and ferments in the small cabinet above our stove. I bet thats a perfect place to make sprouts!

Used to do this a lot. My sis in law brought us a load of Petrie dishes which were ideal for it. Only one word of warning if you try. Removing the seeds from the paper once germinated can damage the radicle so you do need to be very gentle. Putting the paper on the seed compost top never really worked for me.

That sounds like a great idea! A warm spot like on top of the fridge or above the stove would definitely speed up the sprouting process. Thanks for sharing!

I used to do it, tissue in a margarine tub and put it in the airing cupboard, but the transfer to soil was always the tricky point, so I started using well damp soil instead of paper. It seems to work just as well, and you don't get the root working its way into the paper if you leave it half a day too long. like Owdboggy said, it's easy to damage it then.
