Hi there - I have two indoor herb pots, one basil and one sage. They are in a windowsill that gets direct sunlight for about 3/4 of the day. They have grown very tall, with the plant sprouting at the tip of the stalk, but no sprouting happening along the stalk, closer to the soil. As a result, they're not very fullsome. Is there a way to encourage denser growth along the stalk? Thanks so much! Brand new to gardening, no idea what I'm doing lol

The usual way to make plants bush out is to prune them. Chop all the tops off before they flower and go to seed.

You may be describing a leggy plant? That is a low light level indicator but you say it has sun. The prune cut of the basil is just above two pair of leaves. It will branch out. You have a lot of N in the feed? Are they the right color? Are they turgid and firm or limber and floppy?
