Safe Stuff for Animals

I have spring fever and have been out cleaning up my yard and raking out all the old dead grass and getting it ready for spring. I have free range chickens and am wondering what types of grass food I can use to perk up my lawn that is safe for my chickens and other pets. I would love to use something nitrogen based but I worry that it would be bad for the animals. Any suggestions?

Good point DrCase, and it's certainly nitrogen rich

Chicken manure is a good fertilizer on the whole so you can't go wrong with using what you have on the grass. Chickens are amazing waste producers so you should have no shortage of what you need to fertilize.

I love the idea of just using my chickens to do the job rather than put something down on it, I know that their fertilizer has done wonders for my garden. Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it.
