Red maple leaves won’t on young tree?

Our red maple leaves are looking silty. Eat Tennessee and we have had a lot of rain the last two days. Is this a bad sign? Do we need to remove the mulch from around the bottom?

They look fine to me. Mine always start out like that. As the leaf matures it will flatten out.

To me, they look like healthy maple leaves. Unless they were fully opened before, don't worry.

Thank you. We are new to this and I don’t remember what the leaves looked like last year. We had to put the stones around them to keep our 3 year old from running over them with his power wheels jeep!
