Punching holes in 1/2" Irrigation Tubing

Is there an easy way to do this without the proper tool? Thought about using a drill bit but not sure what the best size would be.

Is it plastic ? We use a soldering iron.

yes, 3/8 id plastic. Thanks, didn't think of that!

Why do you want to punch holes in it? Are you making your own drip irrigation system? If so, just use a nail and a hammer. Works the same as those punch tools.
