Propagating Sedum 'Blue Carpet'

So I recently purchased a Sedum 'Blue Carpet' and it is doing well in the container I currently have it in. I also just created a nice little rock garden in my yard that I would love to fill with this sedum. Does anyone have any tips in transplanting cuttings of this sedum to the soil outside?

Any piece broken off will root so easily you will curse it eventually when it spread all over the place via the birds!

I have no experience planting this as I am in Michigan, but the plant looks healthy and very nice looking. Hopefully you will find your answer soon.
