Hi,
I have a problem with my Aloe Vera Plant. Recently, I have noticed that some of its leaves have become soft, and the tips are turning yellow. The aloe is placed in front of a balcony window, so it gets plenty of daylight. Currently, during winter, I water it once every two weeks when the soil is dry. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Could it be related to watering, or should I use fertilizer?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Isabela, welcome to the forums!

When you water your Aloe, does water come out the bottom?
Is it thoroughly soaked?
It is easy to over- and under- water Aloes. You don’t want to rot the roots, so you hardly water them. They do need water though, so when you water them make it a thorough soak all the way to the bottom and side to side. Then let them dry almost to the bottom before you water again. With your South-facing window, your Aloe should be very happy as close to the glass as you can put it.

It sounds like your Aloe Vera plant may be experiencing overwatering or under-watering. Aloe Vera prefers to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter when it needs less water. Yellowing tips and soft leaves are often signs of either too much water or poor drainage. Ensure the soil is well-draining and that the pot has proper drainage holes. During winter, reduce watering to once a month, or only when the soil is completely dry. Avoid fertilizing until the plant shows healthy growth again, as it doesn't need much in winter.

Thank your for your advice.
Now, I am now going to water my aloe abundantly, making sure the soil is thoroughly soaked all the way to the bottom.
