Hey there everybody

I have a quick question about transplanting seedlings from a tray, when it comes to prick them out into their own pots, how many plants do you personally put in per pot? I have heard you can put multiple per pot, then you can thin them out to the best seedling, but wouldn’t this overcrowd the seedlings as they grow?

Thank you in advance for all your answers.

It does depend on which seeds you have. If it's tomatoes or other similar fruit/vegetables, the cell trays are good, especially the root trainers. They have ridges straight down and give you a lovely strong root system. Flowers vary eg lobelia goes in little bunches as they are so tiny, and marigolds etc can be planted five across a big seed tray in rows - 40 plants to a tray.
We had some onion sets this year in quite big root trainers, and the results were magnificent.
The MOST important bit is to move the seedlings by their leaves NOT their stems, and loosen the compost a bit before moving them. Touch the stems and they'll probably die.
