Hello!
I moved house in December and there are some lovely established trees and shrubs in the garden. However I am not a gardener and will need lots of help identifying the plants and establishing what care they require.

I thought I would start with this beautiful little tree in our front garden. I am guessing it maybe some sort of cherry blossom, maybe? What do you think? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Katie :) It looks pretty cloudy there - you don`t mention your location ??
That looks like a well established garden you have taken on. My main tip at the moment if you`re just starting off would be to wait for this first year to come and pass to see what surprises you might see as things pop up. You never know what you have in there until then.

Will you be digging out any new beds?

Thank you for your replies! I’m in Birmingham. I have been told by our next door neighbour that the previous residents of our house weren’t very keen gardeners, and I think it unfortunately shows.
We do have some lovely established hedging however, and some shrubs that look interesting. I’m not planning on digging out new beds, just giving what we have some TLC.

The previous photos were the front garden. Here is the back!BCAEA95B-EF02-4701-99B8-8D52F38A5BF7.jpegE482FA1E-0D38-419F-A444-73C3D69B05CC.jpeg4F47D33D-E070-4E49-A656-448A6A9D3276.jpegA40260F5-AF4B-487C-8442-039F5D02DC22.jpegD22E9AE7-44CB-4309-9343-0190986F25E9.jpeg

Thanks for the photos - there`s plenty to look after there. It`s a good size garden, very nice indeed. There will be a bit of pruning to do :)

I’m happy to report that the tree finally blossomed (it kept us waiting though) and has produced a beautiful deep pink flower.

A crabapple! Well I never would have guessed! It really is a very pretty tree, the photos don’t do it justice. Thank you for the ID :)
