Hello Friends,
I recently went to Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay Fla, US. And came across a tree which had so many different characteristics that it has become hard to look it up. The roots are signaling palm, the trunk yucca, and the leaves because of the pattern and tiny spikes up the edge a agave or aloe. Any help would be much appreciated, the minute a laid eye on this beauty I fell in love and instantly knew if I could I would own one.

Please help, what is it!!!!

This is my first post BTW.

Hello, and welcome to the Forums.

This is a Screw-pine (Pandanus sp.). The genus is native to the paleotropical regions of Africa, Madagascar, Asia, Australia, and many other islands in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. They are widely grown in tropical and warmer subtropical climates and can also be grown as house plants under bright light conditions.

While I'm thinking about it. I'll copy the following post that was written for the other thread, which is virtually identical.

I should add that I do grow one Pandanus myself. It is a variegated form that might stay somewhat smaller. It is usually sold as Pandanus baptistii 'Variegata', but the name P. utilis 'Variegata' may be more correct. I keep it outside Spring through Fall and place it in a sunny window during the winter.
Another Pandanus I hope to grow someday is P. amaryllifolius. This is the cultivated Fragrant Pandan that is used in Asia to flavour and dye green various dishes, particularly desserts.
