Plant identification

Hi All,
Please can anyone tell me what this flowering plant is. It came up en mass in spring on a bank.
It looks like a New Guinea Impatien but I'm not sure.

Good guess- it is a member of the impatiens family, impatiens glandulifera. Himalayan balsam.

Awful thug which is killing off much of our native waterside plants. Groups spend ages removing it from various places. Almost as bad a weed as Ground elder and Bindweed and Japanese knotweed.

Himalayan balsam / RHS Gardening

Himalayan balsam (<em>Impatiens glandulifera</em>) is a relative of the busy Lizzie, but reaches well over head height, and is a major weed problem, especially on riverbanks and waste land, but can also invade gardens. It grows rapidly and spreads quickly, smothering other vegetation as it goes.

It is on a river bank , it will be weeded out ASAP!

As soon as I saw your post @Secretsquirrel I wanted to warn you , but Owdboggy beat me to it. It has taken over one of our local woods it is SO invasive
