Pink fuzzy flowers?

This plant is bush like and looks like a weed until just this last week or two. Any thoughts?

Answered! I was sure you were right but then today found this! We were clearing brush and it still has its tag on it! Clethra alnfolia. Thanks for the suggestions though, I learned a lot from the options you all gave!

Well thank you for letting us know. I just looked it up and found it to be one of your native plants, so more difficult to recognise in the UK.
I always like a puzzle, it is so often the way we all learn (y)

Summer-sweet (Clethra alnifolia), in the Clethraceae, is an attractive deciduous shrub for either full or part sun. This native of the eastern and southeastern U.S. is also adaptable to both wet and well-drained soil conditions. The leaves are a glossy deep green and the fragrant summer flowers can be either white or pink, depending on the cultivar. I have a specimen of Clethra alnifolia 'Ruby Spice' in my garden, and have been most pleased by its performance.
