What should I do with my small back yard? Right now I'm taking the 8in thick layer of pine needles and it's so composted underneath. It's just dirt and lots of bugs! It's a very shaded area and about a 16ft by 24ft area. Advice?

Welcome to the forum!! :)

If you were asking what to do with the pine needles, you've already got your answer. (y)

If you are wanting to know what you can do with the yard... we're going to need more information. You already said it's shaded - do you get a lot of rain? What is your hardiness zone?

If you do not know your zone, it can be found here: https://www.gardening-forums.com/pages/hardiness-zone/
Once you've found your zone, you can enter it in your user profile page (here)

sounds like she has several conifers in her yard. over time those needles do change the Ph of the soil, which do make the Ph different than regular leaf breakdown on soil. So, the plants she uses need to like the Pine needle Ph soil.

And she might think, no one will come and rake the needles up for free pine needles, trust me they will.
