My Madagascar periwinkles are purplish pink coloured. I have had them for about 3 years. But today morning I discovered that somehow they are white all of a sudden! How is this possible? Can this be due to excessive heat or sunlight? We are having a very hot summer. But my other periwinkle plants haven't shown such change yet.

I have never grown this particular plant, but believe it is an annual. This means, of course that it must depend on self seeding if you have grown it over a three year period. It is therefore possible (and I don't know for sure) that the resulting flowers might not be true to the parent plant. Maybe a bee has pollinated from another plant in a garden nearby and that is the result.

I am puzzled. I have not heard or seen any periwinkle flowers change color before.
