My peregrina plant leaves started getting light green and patchy.I also noticed some dead mealybugs(had sprayed some pesticide the night before) on one of the flower bunches.

I am wondering if the leaf discolouration is something wrong or am I being paranoid.

I am completely new to gardening so don’t know much.please help me out.

This plant can grow (given space) to a height of about 10ft. As this one is in a small pot I imagine it`s time for it to have some feed. Maybe it needs potting on to a bigger pot at least.
The peregrina plant is one of the euphorbia family, and you must be very careful if pruning it. All parts of the plant are toxic, but the sap can give a painful rash on the skin, and is very nasty if it gets into the eyes. Wear gloves.

It’s kept in a 9 inch pot at the moment.Apart from the pot size do you see any problems with the leaves? Are they supposed to be light green and patchy?

As I suggested, try giving it a feed...... and put it in a bigger pot, and then the leaves should green up.

The discolored leaves look like a mosaic virus (Begomovirus sp.). There are several known to infect Jatropha, in the Spurge Family (Euphorbiaceae), including Peregrina (Jatropha integerrima). Cut off the stem with the mottled leaves and dispose of ti away from any plant material. Fully disinfect the pruning tool after the cut. Observe the plant for any additional leaf mottling. If seen, prune again.
